Master Spellers is a comprehensive and holistic approach to discovering and learning the nuances of English language within a self-motivated framework of a competition. Power- packed with unique, interesting and challenging rounds, Master Spellers strategically aims to strengthen the students’ vocabulary, comprehension and articulation while they compete to move from one round of the competition to the next.

Master Spellers engages participants beyond conventional learning methods and inspires them towards excellence the ‘learn with fun’ way. While each learner is a winner, the Master Speller ‘casts his/her spell’ over the language to be the coveted winner of this exciting competition each year.

A common thread that runs through the effervescent Master Spellers team is their deep love for the English language and an unwavering passion for teaching. At the genesis of Master Spellers lies our team's persistent and innovative efforts to make language learning inspiring for children. Based on our team’s years of experience of teaching and mentoring over 50000 CBSE, IB, ICSE, CAIE and State Board students, each round of Master Spellers is designed with scrupulous insights into the language learning needs of the students. We, at Master Spellers, believe that while spellings are intrinsic to the language, the constant pursuit of enriching your vocabulary, perfecting your pronunciations, enhancing your writing skills and empowering your ideas with words can be life-defining skills.

FROM THE FOUNDER’S DESK

Words always brought wonderment and the prowess of articulation never failed to fascinate me. Having grown up surrounded by books, crosswords, Scrabble and the then-popular TV shows like ‘What’s The Good Word’, the enigma of words breezed their way through my leisure hours, influenced my teen years, gradually accommodating their permanent space in my personality. The love for books, music, art, movies and theatre often intersects and you discover nuances of one in the other.

As a proud alumna of exemplary institutions like Mount Carmel School, Hislop College and St Xavier’s Institute of Communications, Mumbai, progressive and holistic pedagogy and its impact on nurturing an educated outlook, always caught my curious eye. Conducting public speaking workshops, organizing spelling bee competitions, preparing students for TED-ED Talks, mentoring them towards their academic goals and hand-holding them from panic to pride became a natural consequence of my inherent passion for building confidence through developing communication skills in school students.

As I look back at every step of my professional life, I see the milestones that have been the beginnings of new journeys, each propelling the next. The genesis of Master Spellers is, thus, the culmination of a comprehensive approach towards achieving panoramic learning of the language. Master Spellers helps students fall in love with words and 'cast their spell' in the world.

Her love for English Language was evident right from the day I met her. Sharmishtha is backed by an able, enthusiastic and experienced Team who match her love for English Language. My first encounter with Sharmishtha Chawda, a passionate educator and mentor, was during my role as Principal of a leading CBSE school in Vadodara, Gujarat India.

The meeting began on an official note, but after 2 cups of tea, robust exchanges of common passion areas in education, we were soon on first names, ready to explode with the energy of exciting projects that could be done with children!

Soon Sharmishtha Ma’am became a regular name on the children’s lips, be it Spelling Bee or Young Orators or simply language learning. But spellings weren’t the only preparation that Sharmishtha focussed on – her approach was the perfect stepping stone for young seeking a vitamin booster for expressing themselves; through oratory skills of recitation, debates, declamations, poetry recitation as well as expressions of written works. I have had the honour of being a judge and at times, a spectator, at some of her showcasing events. The children love her – she is one person who accepts them as they are, is gentle, motivating and positive. The energy she exudes is infectious to say the least.

Complacence is a word that Sharmishtha never taught anyone to spell for sure – because it did not exist in her journey of enriching, empowering and enabling students for the life ahead. I wish her the very best for her own venture Master Spellers and hope to continue to be with her in any way possible.

These are the essential questions those of us who work with children often grapple with. In this context, it has been wonderful to watch Sharmishtha, the teacher and mentor work with young minds. At Young Orators, the philosophy isn’t about ticking boxes, it is to eliminate the idea of restricting one’s horizons. The focus is on building confidence, on embracing oneself- warts and all and understanding that each one traverses in their unique path.

Under Sharmishtha and Sanjay’s guidance, I have seen youngsters from smaller cities feel uplifted, those with ability but not the voice have been empowered by the personal level instruction and those who are bursting with creativity have found a way to channelise them better. Art and Language always go hand in hand, particularly in children from the early years of their lives. Subsequently, the use of the right language, to be able to articulate their thoughts with confidence and fluency can be beneficial as they walk their future career paths.

Well, having enjoyed reading an immense number of books of varied genres throughout my childhood and academic years, it naturally led me to enjoy writing too. I constantly strive to use the right words to describe my works and myself without taking away from the imagination of the viewer. At Mindgym Kids Library, we attempt to make kids realize the power of the “written word” and why it cannot be ignored in times of this ever-changing digital era. Master Spellers gives the perfect opportunity for children to look closely and understand our language through each word in such a joyful yet challenging manner. Sharmistha Chawda, a passionate and motivated educationist, continues to reinvent herself after launching this program for young adults and providing an excellent platform to excel in the English language. Meeting many of her exceptionally proficient students on various occasions only reinforces my belief in her dedication towards teaching.
